A subway grate, a warm day and a Marilyn Monroe moment
Monday was the 60th anniversary of the filming of the famous “subway grate” moment in “The Seven Year Itch” -- when Marilyn Monroe’s character attempts to cool off by catching a gust of air from the subway updraft. Sexy Hair, a hair product company, commemorated the occasion by setting up a grate and inviting women to emulate the Marilyn Moment.
It took hours and two locations to film the scene, which may have helped lead to the breakup of Monroe’s marriage to the jealous Joe DeMaggio. [The Guardian]

Prada Marfa, the art installation near Marfa, Texas, that looks like a Prada Boutique -- and that my colleague Adam Tschorn profiled recently -- has been saved. Last year, the Texas Department of Transportation deemed it an illegal advertising sign that should be torn down. On Monday, the department announced it has agreed to reclassify the site as a museum, thus saving it from the wrecking ball. [AP via DallasNews.com]

He was also influenced by “Hedi Slimane’s rocker take at Saint Laurent,” WWD reports. It all seemed to translate into sequins and leather -- and pasties under sheer tops. [WWD]
