With finale in sight, ‘Breaking Bad’ hits all-time ratings record
The worse things get for Walter White, the higher the ratings soar for “Breaking Bad.”
As AMC’s hit drama races toward its finale, Sunday’s episode, full of setbacks for chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-dealer White (Bryan Cranston), logged a series record 6.4 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. Just last year, the show was typically in the range of 3 million viewers.

The series was the No. 1 program of the night on social media, with 604,765 total tweets, according to SocialGuide. Series costar Aaron Paul surpassed 1 million followers on Twitter.
The finale on Sept. 29 could be huge. The last few episodes of “Breaking Bad” have been acclaimed by critics as among the best TV episodes ever, building anticipation for the closer.
