Whoopi Goldberg updates ‘View’ audience on Barbara Walters’ health
Barbara Walters is still in the hospital but seems to be on the mend. Though she didn’t join the women of “The View” when they returned on Tuesday, Whoopi Goldberg was able to share Walters’ thoughts by reading a statement from her.
“First and foremost, I want to thank all the people who have called, written and been concerned about me,” Goldberg read. “I am most appreciative. I’m running a low-grade fever and the doctors are keeping me in the hospital until my temperature is normal. I’m pleased to say that it is going in the right direction and I will be home soon.”
Walters, who is 83, was hospitalized over the weekend after falling on the stairs during an inauguration party Saturday at the home of the British ambassador in Washington. She suffered a cut on her head from the fall.
Her hospitalization made her unable to cover President Obama’s inauguration.
Though Walters ceased doing her annual Oscar-night celebrity specials three years ago, she remains a regular presence on “The View.” There’s no word on when she’ll rejoin Whoopi and the others on the panel.
