USA postpones ‘Mr. Robot’ finale, citing similarities to Virginia TV crew shooting

The killing of a Virginia reporter and cameraman on live television Wednesday has prompted USA Network to postpone the Season 1 finale of “Mr. Robot,” originally scheduled to air Wednesday night.

“The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” the network’s announcement read. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”

“Mr. Robot,” the critically acclaimed freshman drama centered on the life and mind of a potentially delusional hacker, has already been renewed for a second season.

In place of the finale, the network will re-air last week’s episode. The season finale has been rescheduled to air Sept. 2 at 10 p.m.

WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were shot and killed during a live interview early Wednesday. The suspect, Vester Lee Flanagan II, a 41-year-old former coworker, killed himself after a police chase, authorities said.
