Taye Diggs to host hypnotism game show ‘You’re Back in the Room’ for Fox

Taye Diggs has succumbed to Fox’s powers of suggestion: He’ll be hosting “You’re Back in the Room,” an eight-part comedy game show with a hypnotic twist.

“The second I saw this show I knew I needed to be a part of it. It’s the most unique blend of comedy and competition I’ve seen in years,” the “Murder in the First” star said Tuesday in a statement from the network. “I’m also quite excited as this is a program I can watch and laugh at with my 6-year-old son.”

On the limited-run game show, based on a British program of the same name, contestants gunning for cash must work in teams to complete simple tasks made more complicated — think physical comedy — by tthe players having had their brains hacked first by resident hypnotist Keith Barry.

“You’re Back in the Room” will start production in July.

Barry, a recognized hypnotist who starred in the British incarnation of the show, is also a consultant on the upcoming feature film “Now You See Me: The Second Act,” which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Radcliffe and Mark Ruffalo.
