Obama to appear on ‘Tonight Show’ next week
Next week is shaping up to be a big one in terms of late-night talk show programming. First, Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to guest host for Chelsea Handler on Monday night, and now President Obama will be appearing on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters Wednesday that Obama would be making the appearance as part of a trip that would also include stops in Tennessee and Arizona before the late-afternoon appearance with Jay Leno.
This is Obama’s sixth appearance on “The Tonight Show,” and chances are good he’ll be wanting to talk about middle-class jobs and the economy this time.
The last time Obama appeared with Leno was in October 2012, just before his reelection.
As far as late-night TV appearances go for the president, it still appears he favors David Letterman. He’s been a guest seven times on Letterman’s “Late Show.” And he’s appeared six times on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.”
