Netflix gives ‘The Killing’ a final season
“The Killing” won’t die. Netflix, known to help the underdog, has ordered a fourth and final limited season of the beleaguered drama.
The six-episode series finale, produced by Fox Television Studios, will be made available only to Netflix streaming subscribers.
Consider it another up in the show’s seesaw life. AMC originally canceled the low-rated series, created and executive-produced by Veena Sud, after two seasons. The network later reversed the decision and ordered a third season after a deal with Netflix, which stepped in as exclusive streaming producer, helped offset the costs.

But AMC would once more cancel the series following the end of the third season earlier this year when ratings didnt pick up. Netflix, though, isn’t ready to call a time of death.
“The rich, serialized storytelling in ‘The Killing’ thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper sendoff,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, in a statement. “We are looking forward to offering fans -- both existing and new -- a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing.”
The first three seasons of “The Killing” are now available to stream globally on Netflix.
No word yet on when production will start.
