NBC, Wanda Sykes give ‘Last Comic Standing’ new lease on life
It’s been gone for three years, but NBC announced Wednesday that it was time to bring “Last Comic Standing” back for another go-round.
The announcement came with added firepower as it was also stated that comedian Wanda Sykes has signed on to executive produce the show.
The eighth season of the unscripted series, which pits comedians against one another in a battle of laughs, will air during the summer of 2014.

Page Hurwitz will co-executive produce via Push It Productions, the company she runs with Sykes.
Who will host the revival remains a mystery, but the new person will fill shoes formerly occupied by Jay Mohr, Anthony Clark, Bill Bellamy, Fearne Cotton and Craig Robinson.
Sykes was plenty busy before this new deal, having appeared in a variety of television shows and comedy specials including HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Comedy Central’s “Wanda Does It” and “The Wanda Sykes Show” on Fox.
