NBC picks up comedy ‘People Are Talking’
NBC is signaling its hopes with the title of its new season comedy series pickup, “People Are Talking.”
The series, starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Meaghan Rath, Tone Bell and Bresha Webb, looks at “two diverse couples who are both neighbors and best friends,” according to a release from NBC.
The couples will tackle all manner of hot-button issues, including sex and race. The network surely hopes that the discussions will do for the audience exactly what the title promises.
“Ride Along” producer Will Packer executive produces the series alongside “How I Met Your Mother” director Pam Fryman, who also directed the pilot for Will Packer Productions and Universal Television.
The series was created by veteran comedy writer DJ Nash.
The series is NBC’s first announced comedy series pickup for the new 2015-2016 season.
The network had previously picked up the drama pilots, “Chicago Med,” “Blindspot” and “Heartbreaker” to series.
The Upfront presentations, in which the networks all reveal their new shows and schedules, will take place in New York City later this month.
