NBC’s ‘Camp’ is canceled after one season

Summer is gone and now so is NBC’s low-cost summer offering “Camp.” The network opted to not renew the show for a second season thanks to disappointing ratings.

The series, which starred Rachel Griffiths and was picked up for a 13-episode order in January, was a fun-loving romp through a summer camp for adults and their children called Little Otter Family Camp.

Word of the cancellation spread on Tuesday after costar Nikolai Nikolaeff tweeted, “So… It was a great summer and I loved every minute of it. Sorry to all the @NBCCamp fans out there but no go on #CampSeason2.”

The series was created by “Deception’s” Liz Heldens and Peter Elkoff. It premiered to 5 million viewers but its numbers dipped consistently through its run.

Luckier summer series ABC’s “Mistresses” and CBS’ “Under the Dome” have been picked up for second seasons.
