Love really is dead -- Miss Piggy and Kermit break up
First Ben and Jennifer. Then Gwen and Gavin. And now the biggest breakup of all: Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog are taking a breather.
The messy Muppet breakup was announced Tuesday morning in a message on social media. The couple had been together for nearly four decades.

“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship,” Miss Piggy said in a statement on her Twitter account. “However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter...unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.”
The conscious uncoupling seems to not have tarnished their working relationship. The two are putting their differences aside to work on the upcoming ABC comedy, “The Muppets,” which premieres Sept. 22. And the two were on hand Tuesday at the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Beverly Hills to promote the series and to demonstrate their ability to keep things civil.
“I have no problem working with my ex,” Miss Piggy told the room of reporters.
“The Muppets” is a behind-the-scenes mockumentary delving in to the personal and professional dealings of the beloved Muppet characters. Part of the storyline involves Kermit being an executive producer on Miss Piggy’s late-night talk show.
