Meg Ryan will be narrator of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spinoff
If CBS decides to order the pilot of “How I Met Your Dad” to series, fans will be hearing the voice of Meg Ryan narrating the adventures of her younger self, played by Greta Gerwig.
Sources say Ryan, America’s onetime rom-com sweetheart, will have the Bob Saget role in the spinoff of “How I Met Your Mother,” the nine-season hit on CBS that recently concluded its run.
In the original series, Saget voiced the future version of main character Ted, played by Josh Radnor, telling his children the long and meandering tale of how he met their mother. Saget and his children were never seen on camera in the show.

In the spinoff, Ryan will do the same, looking back on her younger years before she met the father of her children. Though since the series hasn’t even been picked up yet, there’s no telling if she will ever appear on camera or not.
CBS and 20th Century Fox TV, which is producing the pilot, had no comment.
Ryan most recently appeared in several episodes of Lisa Kudrow’s Showtime comedy “Web Therapy.”
“How I Met Your Mother” ended its run in controversial fashion by actually killing the mother character (off-screen) and having Ted pursuing Robin (Cobie Smulders), who had been his main love interest during the run of the series. Many fans felt it was a bit of a bait-and-switch, since they’d long been led to believe that the story of the mother was one of true love.
