‘Liz & Dick’ draws decent ratings but is no hit for Lindsay Lohan
“Liz & Dick,” the Lifetime film about legendary Hollywood couple Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton starring troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, scored respectable ratings in its Sunday premiere, attracting 3.5 million viewers.
However, since “Liz & Dick” was one of the most heavily promoted TV films of the year — and given the mass of publicity surrounding the concept of “Lindsay as Liz” in the past several weeks — Lifetime executives have to be disappointed that the movie did not draw a larger audience.
As for Lohan, her comeback, after years of drug abuse, rehab stints and several run-ins with the law have all but wrecked her once-soaring career, appears to have fallen short.
The film, which co-starred Grant Bowler as Richard Burton, was heavily savaged by critics who largely blasted Lohan’s performance as the actress.
Lifetime plans to rerun “Liz & Dick” Monday.
