Watch Larry David’s ‘Bern Your Enthusiasm’ and Bernie Sanders’ pretty, pretty good ‘SNL’ spot

"Saturday Night Live" was #FeelinTheBern this week with host Larry David and, as rumored, a special appearance by Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. 

In a spoof of his HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" called "Bern Your Enthusiasm," David reprised his impression of the Democratic presidential candidate. Sanders showed up later in a "Titantic"-inspired sketch making light of his reputation as a class crusader. 

Whether the senator's relatively brief airtime was enough to satisfy his passionate followers is unclear, but for fans of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," on indefinite hiatus since 2011, the pitch-perfect parody was a welcome treat.

The sketch opened with David-as-Sanders declining to shake hands with a New Hampshire supporter played by Leslie Jones after she'd coughed into her hand. At the campaign office, "Sanders" comes under fire from staffers , who eerily resemble Susie Essman, Jeff Garlin and J.B. Smoove (and are played by Cecily Strong, Bobby Moynihan and Jay Pharoah, respectively).

Later, Sanders makes a run to the coffee shop because he refuses to drink his with the 2% milk at the campaign office and declines to help another supporter in peril. As in any episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," he soon comes to regret being so stubborn.

In another sketch aboard a sinking ship, David played a male passenger trying to use his wealth to weasel his way onto a lifeboat. That's when Sanders, in humble Jack Dawson attire, appeared on deck. 

"I am so sick of the 1% getting this preferential treatment," he said, wagging his finger angrily. "Enough. Is. Enough. We need to unite and work together if we’re all going to get through this."

David wasn't convinced. "Sounds like socialism to me."

"Democratic socialism," clarified Sanders, whose character was named Bernie Sanderswitsky but planned to change it once he got to America, "so it doesn’t sound so Jewish."

Sanders made another brief appearance later in the episode as David was introducing the musical guest the 1975. Asked how his campaign in New Hampshire was going, he told David it was "pretty, pretty, pretty good."
