KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin should perhaps consider leaving the live interviews to others. He’s not having a good week.

During a live interview with Rubin during the “KTLA Morning News,” Oscar winner Kevin Costner dropped a curse word that was not bleeped and was broadcast during an hour when schoolchildren may have been at home.

The exchange with Costner came two days after Samuel L. Jackson eviscerated Rubin in a live interview when Rubin confused the African American actor with Laurence Fishburne.

At 7:48 a.m. Wednesday, Rubin, who was in KTLA’s Hollywood studios, was talking to Costner via satellite about the Oscar winner’s upcoming film, “3 Days to Kill.”

Rubin started the interview by asking Costner if the two should discuss his movies, baseball or Cal State Fullerton, an apparent reference to the star’s athletic past.

Costner, who was listed on screen as being “down the street,” seemed puzzled by the question. He later said, “Probably the people who are paying for this want us to talk a little bit about ‘3 Days to Kill.’ But we can shoot the ... about a lot of things if you want.”

“Indeed we could,” replied Rubin, who appeared not to notice the actor’s slip. He continued the interview without reminding Costner that he was on live television and did not apologize following the segment to parents or children who may have been offended by the actor’s coarse language.
