Josh Hutcherson talks Jennifer Lawrence with Letterman: ‘I’m so lost’

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” star Jennifer Lawrence has quite an outsize personality, which is always a plus when trying to make an impression on bored journalists during a lengthy media tour to promote a movie.

And she’s even captured the attention of late-night TV guys like David Letterman, who peppered her “Hunger Games” costar, Josh Hutcherson, with questions about what it was like to work with the actress.

“Is she fun to work with?” Letterman asked Hutcherson on Monday night.

“She’s incredible,” Hutcherson said. “You’ve seen what she’s like. That’s what she’s like. That’s really it. There’s nothing else there.”

Too late, poor Hutcherson realized he’d put his foot in his mouth.

“I’m gonna pay for that comment next time I see her,” he said.

“She strikes me as a woman who has a free spirit,” Letterman said.

“You don’t say,” Hutcherson said.

Lawrence recently had a spirited appearance on Letterman in which she discussed in some graphic detail the symptoms of what could possibly be a lower intestinal problem and ended up snuggling under a large pink blanket with the host. She also appeared on “The Daily Show,” where she threatened to come out with a raw turkey on her head.

Hutcherson, a Kentucky native like his “Hunger Games” costar, went on to explain how Lawrence will show up at press events and spout off “crazy, crazy things” before telling journalists that everything she said is off the record.

Do the journalists refrain from repeating what she says?

“Jennifer says the craziest things. They print the craziest things. I don’t know what’s real and what’s not anymore,” Hutcherson said.

“I’m so lost, Dave,” Hutcherson said. A cry for help from one more person caught up in the Jennifer Lawrence personality maelstrom.
