The years-in-the-making conclusion to the story of exactly how Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) met the mother of his children will finally come to its conclusion on Monday, March 31.

CBS will air a special one-hour series finale to “How I Met Your Mother,” the comedy series which has run for an impressive nine seasons.

Every episode of the show’s ninth-and-final season has taken place in the hours leading up to the wedding of Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders), with new cast member Cristin Milioti playing the mysterious mother.

The series’ final episode will be followed by the premiere of CBS’ new comedy series “Friends With Better Lives,” starring Kevin Connolly and James Van Der Beek.

Meanwhile, CBS has ordered a pilot of a spinoff-in-spirit series from the “HIMYM” producers called “How I Met Your Father,” which will follow completely new characters. No word yet on whether the network will move forward with a full series order.
