‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ looks to showcase Pumpkin (and Pigzilla)

We know all about Honey Boo Boo and her mom, Mama June. But the rest of the Thompson/Shannon clan has been given a supporting role on the runaway TLC hit “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” But on Wednesday night’s episode (one of two), Honey Boo Boo’s 13-year-old sister, Pumpkin, gets the spotlight.

And let’s pause a moment to worry about the health of poor Lauryn Shannon. The girl chooses to enter her teenage years in one of the most disgusting ways possible: taking on Pigzilla.

For those who aren’t familiar with Pigzilla, it’s a 4-pound pork sandwich (three pounds of pulled pork and barbecue sauce and a one-pound Hawaiian sweet roll) offered at Papa Buck’s BBQ in Metter, Ga., that must be eaten in 45 minutes for a reward of $200. If you can hold it down for five minutes, then, according to Mama June, you’re free to puke it all up.

Will viewers be treated to the sight of young Pumpkin horking up pounds of pulled pork?

Not even Food Network host Adam Richman has ever challenged Pigzilla in his show “Man Vs. Food” or even “Man Vs. Food Nation.” Some things are best left to the backwoods of Georgia.

Although, as we subsequently learn, poor Pumpkin was once electrocuted by lightning while playing a video game system during a storm. And according to her family, she hasn’t been the same since. In light of that information, maybe gorging on Pigzilla isn’t the worst outcome.
