Carol Burnett to receive lifetime achievement award from SAG
Comedian Carol Burnett will be honored with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, SAG-AFTRA announced Monday.
The star, best known for her long-running variety and sketch-comedy series, “The Carol Burnett Show,” will be presented with the award, which honors professional and humanitarian accomplishments, during the SAG Awards ceremony Jan. 30.
“Carol Burnett is a creative dynamo and a comedic genius,” SAG-AFTRA President Ken Howard said in a press release. “She embodies the generosity and courage that the greatest actors use in creating enduring and memorable characters.”
It’s the latest in a long list of accolades for Burnett, 82, a recipient of six Primetime Emmys, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Kennedy Center Honors.
Previous SAG Life Achievement honorees include Betty White, Clint Eastwood, Mary Tyler Moore and Sidney Poitier.
