“Breaking Bad” is coming to an end, but fans of the hit drama should not despair. A “Breaking Bad” spinoff featuring the sometimes unethical attorney Saul Goodman has been given the green light.

“Better Call Saul” will feature Bob Odenkirk as Goodman in a one-hour series that is being positioned as a prequel to “Breaking Bad,” focusing on Goodman before he became the lawyer for chemistry-teacher-turned-criminal Walter White. AMC and Sony Pictures Television announced the deal in a joint statement.

Vince Gilligan, who is the creator of “Breaking Bad,” has said in several interviews that he wanted to base a show around Goodman after “Breaking Bad” ended its run.
