Anderson Cooper is apparently not done being embarrassed on live TV, because the CNN anchor is teaming up with comedian Kathy Griffin once again to host CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage from Times Square.

This is the seventh straight year for Cooper and Griffin, who’ve been through a lot over the years, including semi-nudity (Griffin’s), saucy language and enough sex talk to make Cooper giggle like a kid.

In a statement, Cooper said, “Wait ... what? CNN hired her again? For real?”

The New Year’s Eve coverage will run from 6-9:30 p.m. PST (that will be after midnight in New York). But it won’t all be Cooper and Griffin all the time. CNN correspondents will be covering the new year, including Isha Sesay in the Times Square crowds, Brooke Baldwin in New Orleans, Susan Hendricks in Nashville and Gary Tuchman in Vincennes, Ind., home of the annual New Year’s Eve Watermelon Drop.

Watermelon drop? This is the fifth annual event for the small town in southern Indiana, which involves dropping 12 watermelons from an 18-foot, 500-pound fake watermelon, hoisted high into the air over the town.

Baldwin will take over for Cooper and Griffin after the ball drops in NYC (and the watermelons drop in Indiana) to cover the new year arriving across the rest of the U.S. time zones.
