‘American Horror Story: Coven’ teaser shows creepy witch action
The third version of “American Horror Story,” subtitled “Coven,” will premiere Oct. 9 on FX, and judging by the just-released teaser for the new season, the witches will be just as creepy as the lunatics and serial killers last season.
The 20-second teaser shows three women, apparently set to be burned at the stake. But a simple turn of the camera reveals that they’re actually floating in front of the stakes, completely in control of the situation.
The third season of executive producer Ryan Murphy’s anthology-style horror series will feature returning “AHS” star Jessica Lange, alongside Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Denis O’Hare, Patti LuPone, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Emma Roberts.
BUZZMETER: Emmy 2013 pundit’s picks
The previous installment, “Asylum,” is currently leading the pack in nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 22, with 15 nominations. Positioning the show as a miniseries and not an ongoing drama has helped it distinguish itself, in Emmy awards, anyway, from the rest of the TV drama competition.
The new season is expected to delve into the history of witchcraft in America.
