AMC debuts first 3 minutes of ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ on Facebook
In anticipation of Sunday’s debut of “Fear the Walking Dead,” AMC released the first three minutes of the pilot on the show’s Facebook page. Serving as a companion series to the most-watched show in cable television history, “The Walking Dead,” the new series opens with an unsettling look at one drug addict’s (Frank Dillane) very bad morning.

Despite the clip’s immediate journey into all things zombie, “Fear the Walking Dead” has a distinctly more domestic vibe than its predecessor, focusing largely on the interpersonal troubles of a single blended family and featuring the acting talents of Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis and Elizabeth Rodriguez. The series also takes place in Los Angeles, as opposed to the Greater Atlanta region, and is set in the months preceding the events audiences have witnessed on “The Walking Dead.”

The producers and cast recently fielded questions at AMC’s Television Critics Assn. presentation for the show and addressed how the show hopes to avoid some of the pitfalls of pacing that “The Walking Dead” experienced, particularly when grounding the new series in such emotional territory. Co-Executive Producer Adam Davidson emphasized balancing the emotional investment in the family with the looming threat of said family trying to escape a city of 14 million people in the midst of a complete meltdown.
For those interested in how they manage the feat, “Fear the Walking Dead” premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. PDT on AMC.
