First look: ‘The Carmichael Show’ tackles infidelity in Season 2 premiere

If you haven't heard of "The Carmichael Show," you're missing out on one of television's newest comedies aiming to start conversations among its audience. But don't worry. Just ahead of its Season 2 premiere on March 13, we've got an exclusive look at what you can expect from the NBC show.

"The Carmichael Show" was created by Jerrod Carmichael in the image of his own family. The show centers on him and his cohabiting girlfriend, Maxine (Amber Stevens West). David Alan Grier and Loretta Devine play his wacky parents, while comedian Lil Rel Howery is his younger brother, Bobby, and South L.A.'s Tiffany Haddish is Bobby's very present ex-wife, Nekeisha.

The show stood out during its short first season for tackling a number of issues in the headlines that television often doesn't breach. In one episode, Jerrod's mentee reveals to him that she identifies as transgender, though the world sees her as a boy -- with amazing basketball skills. In another episode, the family addresses protests such as those done by the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Other topics have included religion, guns and healthy eating.

As for the second season, the first episode will tackle infidelity. In the clip below, Jerrod finds out that his girlfriend isn't as innocent as he thinks. Never did he think cheating would hit this close to home.

"The Carmichael Show" debuts March 13 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
