‘Homeland’ to return for a third season on Showtime
Showtime has ordered a third season of “Homeland,” the espionage drama starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis that just scored several Emmy Awards, including outstanding drama series.
The show, which the network said is earning its biggest ratings in its second season, will return with 12 new episodes.
Said David Nevins, president of entertainment for Showtime Networks: “We can’t wait for our viewers to experience what unfolds through the rest of Season 2 ... and we are thrilled to begin the planning for ‘Homeland’s’ third season.”
The drama, which also earned lead actress and lead actor in a drama Emmys for Danes and Lewis, revolves around a troubled CIA agent (Danes) who suspects that a returning POW who was rescued (Lewis) and brought back to the U.S. may be involved in a terrorist plot to be carried out on American soil.
