Discovery distances itself from gun show star’s comments on Aurora
Discovery Networks is distancing itself from comments by one of the stars of its “American Guns” show who declared that the tragic shooting at a Colorado movie theater during a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” could have been avoided if audience members had been allowed to carry guns.
“If a member of the audience in a front row of that theater was carrying a gun and had the ability to effectively use it, that gunman could have been neutralized before he could get a second round into the crowd,” Renee Wyatt, the matriarch and business manager of Gunsmoke gun store, told RadarOnline.com in an interview.
Added Wyatt, “This kind of incident is a perfect example of why people who have acquired the ability to shoot should carry guns.”
The website for Discovery described Wyatt as one of the stars of “American Guns”: “The Wyatts are your typical suburban family except they just happen to own one of the premiere firearms facilities in the world. A spokesperson for Discovery said: “Our thoughts and prayers are focused on the victims of this tragic shooting and their families. Renee’s opinions are hers and hers alone.”
