Adaptation of ‘Y: The Last Man’ ordered to series at FX
FX announced a series order for the new drama “Y” — a television adaptation of the graphic novel “Y: The Last Man” — at the Television Critics Assn. presentation in Pasadena on Monday.
Co-created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, “Y: The Last Man” is set in a post-apocalyptic world where all men suddenly die except the title character, Yorick. The series was published by Vertigo Comics from 2002 to 2008 and received three Eisner Awards.
The FX series is co-created by Michael Green (“American Gods”) and Aïda Mashaka Croal (“Luke Cage”). The ensemble cast is led by Diane Lane, along with Barry Keoghan, Imogen Poots and Amber Tamblyn.
“Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal have partnered with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson to deliver a stunning new expression of this fascinating and timely story,” said FX President Nick Grad in a statement Monday. “Melina Matsoukas, who directed the pilot, did an incredible job bringing it to life with Diane Lane and this stellar cast.”
“Y” is scheduled to air on FX in 2020.
