Calvin Harris tweets ‘truth’ about Taylor Swift breakup
In a move that could have come straight out of a “Explaining Divorce to Children” pamphlet, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris sat the Internet down Thursday and explained how, though they still love each other very much, they aren’t in love with each other anymore.
Or as close to that as you’re going to get on Twitter.
Harris posted the tweet Thursday afternoon, the day after news of the music power couple’s breakup surfaced.
“The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect,” Harris said, in a message that’s been retweeted over 45,000 times.
One of those sharing the message? Taylor Swift herself.
The songstress had been absent from Twitter since a May 13 tweet wishing Lena Dunham a happy birthday, with her retweet of Harris serving as her first activity on the social media platform in nearly three weeks.
(Swift did, however, post an Instagram video of an angry frog on May 20.)
Harris, whose real name is Adam Wiles, and Swift’s highly publicized romance lasted 15 months before coming to a conclusion last week.
News of the breakup came after speculation that the couple was on the outs in light of Swift’s social media silence in the wake of Harris’ May 20 car accident that caused him to cancel several performance dates.
As things stand, Swift and Harris seem to be navigating the rough waters of breakup life amicably, for Twitter’s sake, if nothing else.
