Rapper Too Short arrested in Hollywood in drug, DUI case
L.A.-area lockups are just one more musician away from a forming supergroup this week, after police said the rapper Too $hort was arrested in Hollywood early this morning on suspicion of drunken driving and drug possession.
The 46-year-old, born Todd Anthony Shaw, was arrested around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue, according to Los Angeles police officer Cleon Joseph.
Joseph added that Shaw briefly tied to evade arrest on foot before being apprehended. His arrest comes just days after Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy’s arrest on similar charges.
It’s not Shaw’s first brush with the law. In 2009, he was arrested twice on suspicion of DUI and other charges in Las Vegas. A year later, he was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges after a performance at an Idaho nightclub.
Shaw, a hip-hop pioneer in the San Francisco Bay area, is currently in custody on $10,000 bail and is facing at least one felony charge.
