Prince reportedly home and fine after emergency landing for a brief hospitalization in Illinois
Prince, who postponed shows last week because of the flu, was reportedly hospitalized after his private plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Ill., in the wee hours Friday so that he could be treated.
He was transported via ambulance to a local hospital immediately after touching down around 1 a.m., TMZ reported. A rep for the singer told the outlet that Prince was treated for about three hours, then returned to the plane and is now home.
Before getting on the plane, the 57-year-old had performed two shows Thursday night in Atlanta -- shows that had been postponed a week because of illness.
“While remnants of the flu that sidelined him last week and caused the postponement of these shows was apparent when he talked (he did apologize for last week’s cancellation), when Prince sang, he sounded sublime,” Melissa Ruggieri of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote in a Friday review of the “Purple Rain” singer’s first show.
That 7 p.m. performance ran less than 90 minutes, she said, with a second show set for 10 p.m.
A rep for the “Purple Rain” artist didn’t immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment.
