Watch Miley Cyrus sing ‘We Can’t Stop’ with Jimmy Fallon, the Roots
Who says Miley Cyrus is trying to escape her background in family television?
On Tuesday night, the former “Hannah Montana” star took to Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show to talk up her just-released “Bangerz” album, which follows a summer of nonstop controversy related to the fact that Cyrus has grown up -- gasp! -- and is now interested in many of the things other 20-year-olds are interested in.
Yet old allegiances die hard, so for her performance of her song “We Can’t Stop,” Cyrus enlisted Fallon and his house band, the Roots, for a tribute to that squeakiest-clean of vintage TV series: “The Brady Bunch.”

Like Fallon’s recent hook-up with Robin Thicke on another bawdy summer hit, Tuesday’s a cappella rendition works to smooth out some of the edge in “We Can’t Stop,” in which Cyrus play-by-plays a memorable night out, complete with red cups, sweaty bodies and folks “in line in the bathroom trying to get a line in the bathroom.”
But it also serves as a sly rejoinder to observers who’ve made such a fuss over Cyrus’ perceived indiscretions.
