Mary J. Blige to anchor TV holiday special
Thanksgiving isn’t just for stuffing your face with turkey, watching Charlie Brown on TV and then splurging on electronics at Black Friday sales.
The holiday also launches the season of TV holiday specials anchored by musicians.
Lady Gaga will sing alongside the Muppets for a sure-to-be bombastic Thanksgiving night special, and in December, Kelly Clarkson and Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles will host holiday specials of their own.
But viewers wanting a bit more soul in their season can opt for Mary J. Blige’s special, scheduled for Thanksgiving night on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recently launched Revolt network.

Hosted by Queen Latifah, “A Mary Christmas” is tied to Blige’s recent album of the same name.
The one-hour special features Blige’s spin on holiday classics including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Tyrese and legendary producer David Foster -- he helmed Blige’s holiday album -- will also appear.
“A Mary Christmas” airs Thursday at 8 p.m. EST.
