Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour to hit the U.S. in January

Lady Gaga is ready to bring her Born This Way Ball to U.S. shores.

The singer announced the first installment of her North American tour dates Wednesday via Twitter.

Gaga will launch the North American leg of the tour Jan. 11 in Vancouver, Canada. It includes 26 dates in the U.S. and Canada through March.

The dates include a Jan. 20 stop at Staples Center in L.A., and run through the middle of March (full North American schedule is below).

After last year’s polarizing “Born This Way,” the just as polarizing pop diva launched Her Born This Way tour in South Korea -- perhaps representative of a new global paradigm in pop (or maybe she just really digs K-pop). The tour continued through Asia, Australia and Europe.

Before coming to North America, Gaga will visit her “Little Monsters” in Latin America and Africa with a string of dates.

The singer is already hard at work on her next album, “ARTPOP,” which she announced by way of a new tattoo. She recently tweeted that she plans on channeling “stoned Disney princess” vibes for the album. We aren’t totally sure what that means, but we will certainly be watching. “ARTPOP,” with its ALL-CAPS title, is expected to hit stores sometime next year.

She’s reportedly been working with more cutting-edge dance producers this time around, including the Skrillex-affiliated phenom Zedd (the opening act for the European leg of her tour) and Azealia Banks. She hasn’t lost her touch for hair-metal, though -- Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich is reportedly a special guest on the record.

More dates are expected to be announced. Gaga’s last outing, the Monster Ball Tour, kept her on the road from 2009 to 2011 with three legs in North America. Fans can get a complete list of updated dates on the singer’s social networking hub, Littlemonsters.com.
