KROQ auctions ‘Acoustic Christmas’ VIP tickets for typhoon relief
KROQ-FM has cooked up a campaign allowing music fans to help support relief efforts in the Philippines following the disaster inflicted on the region by Typhoon Haiyan and get a VIP trip to one of the station’s upcoming Almost Acoustic Christmas shows in the bargain.
Ten sets of VIP packages to the Dec. 7 and 8 shows at the Shrine Auditorium are being auctioned on the station’s website with 100% of proceeds going to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund helping in the aftermath of the storm that killed more than 4,000 people and left more than 100,000 homeless.
Bidding will run through 7 a.m. on Nov. 22. The ticket packages include a pair of tickets to one of the two shows, two VIP Artist Access passes and the opportunity to introduce one of the bands alongside a KROQ DJ.
The auction is underway and bids were ranging from $500 to $610 for the first night’s show with Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and other acts. Bidding was a little more enthusiastic for Sunday’s night’s show, featuring Arcade Fire, Phoenix, Lorde and the Neighbourhood among others, with bids from $510 to $1,000 as of late Friday afternoon.
Bidders must register at KROQ.com before taking part in the auction.
