Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend top KROQ Christmas first-night bill
Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend and Queens of the Stone Age top the lineup for the first night of this year’s KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas benefit shows scheduled for Dec. 7 and 8 at the Shrine Auditorium.
Rounding out the bill are Arctic Monkeys, AFI, Cage the Elephant, Grouplove, Foals and New Politics. As has been the case historically with KROQ shows, the 24th Acoustic Christmas bill is overwhelmingly male dominated, with Hannah Hooper of L.A. indie rock band Grouplove being the only woman slated to perform, at least on the first night as announced.
Tickets for the show go on sale Friday at midnight Pacific time. They will be available only to KROQ Street Team members, with membership information available at the station’s website.
Proceeds from the first night’s show will benefit Para Los Ninos, the Los Angeles nonprofit family service organization whose stated mission is “to create academic success and social well-being for children” through early education centers, charter schools and wellness centers, focusing on at-risk kids.
Details for the second night’s lineup will be announced Nov. 11, on KROQ-FM (106.7).
