Coachella won’t be the first place to see the Guns N’ Roses reunion

Before the desert, Sin City.

That’s the plan for the newly reunited Guns N’ Roses, which announced Tuesday that it will play two shows in Las Vegas in April ahead of its highly publicized headlining gig at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.

With a lineup featuring frontman Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, the influential Los Angeles hard-rock band is set to perform April 8 and 9 at the T-Mobile Arena, a new 20,000-seat venue set to open in April just off the Las Vegas Strip.

The concerts, described in a statement as “the very first place the world can see [GNR’s] historical return,” will mark the first time Rose, Slash and McKagan have played together onstage in 23 years, according to the band.

“Welcome back to the jungle!” read a note posted on GNR’s Facebook page along with a short video interspersing footage of the three musicians.

Coachella is scheduled for April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Club. Other acts on the bill include Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Ice Cube and LCD Soundsystem.
