Watch Fiona Apple’s music video for ‘Hot Knife’
Beyond a report of her arrest on drug charges in Texas and a letter she posted on Facebook about her ailing dog, we haven’t heard much from Fiona Apple since the release last year of her excellent comeback album “The Idler Wheel...”
That changed early Wednesday, though, with the appearance online of a new music video for “Hot Knife,” the elaborately harmonized number that closes “The Idler Wheel...” with a Broadway-style flourish.

According to Pitchfork, the clip was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson of “The Master” and “There Will Be Blood” fame. Apple and the filmmaker were romantically involved during the 1990s and early 2000s, when he helmed several earlier videos for the singer, including “Paper Bag” and “Fast As You Can.”
