‘Fetty Wap’ album enters Billboard 200 at No. 1

Rapper Fetty Wap’s good news-bad news week, in which he broke his leg in a motorcycle accident the day after his debut album was released, ups the balance on the “good” side with news that the album, “Fetty Wap,” enters the Billboard 200 albums chart at No. 1, with total equivalent sales of 128,654 copies.

Don Henley’s first solo album in 15 years, “Cass County,” debuts on the Billboard 200 at No. 3 but actually sold more physical albums, with hard sales of 87,361 copies. That compares to 75,484 for “Fetty Wap,” which benefited from track-equivalent sales and streaming-equivalent sales figures that boosted the total as tabulated by Billboard from figures collected by the Nielsen Music service.

The No. 2 album on the Billboard 200 is Drake and Future’s “What a Time to Be Alive,” posting equivalent sales of 106,520, while George Strait’s “Cold Beer Conversation” landed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, with sales of 86,095, and No. 2 on the album sales ranking, it’s 82,667 physical copes ahead of the 61,375 posted by “What a Time to Be Alive.”

Rounding out the Top 5 on the overall Billboard 200 chart is the Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness” at 81,427 in its third week of release. It’s one of only two albums in this week’s Top 10 that appeared there last week — the other being Taylor Swift’s “1989,” which continues to show strong sales nearly a year after it was released, finishing at No. 7 with total equivalent sales of 40,941 last week.

The rest of the Top 10 finishers are new albums that were released Sept. 25: country singer Thomas Rhett’s “Tangled Up,” at No. 6 with 76,154 sales total, Chvrches’ “Every Open Eye” at No. 8 (37,888), Disclosure’s “Caracal” at No. 9 (35,253) and Dead Weather’s “Dodge and Burn” at No. 10 (32,787).

Henley’s album, which features guest vocals from Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Martina McBride and Alison Krauss, also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s country album chart, giving the Eagles co-founder, singer and songwriter the first No. 1 solo album of his career. His solo tour reaches the Forum in Inglewood on Friday, Oct. 9.
