D’Angelo, Mary J. Blige to launch joint tour
Following showings at the BET Awards and the House of Blues that earned D’Angelo stellar reviews, the soul singer is continuing his (extremely welcomed) return to form by announcing a late summer tour.
The performer, who is carefully making a comeback after more than a decade in seclusion, is set for a co-headlining trek, dubbed the Liberation Tour, on which he will be joined by the reigning Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,Mary J. Blige.
Only six dates were unveiled on Monday, the first being an Aug. 18 stop in Virginia Beach, Va. Blige told Rolling Stone the tour will be 20 dates.
Both D’Angelo and Blige played the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this past weekend.
D’Angelo is putting the finishing touches on his first album since 2000’s classic “Voodoo.” Blige released her 10th studio album, “My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1)” late last year.

Aug. 18 -- Virgina Beach, Va., Farm Bureau Live
Aug. 19 -- Wantagh, N.Y., Nikon Theatre at Jones Beach
Aug. 21 -- Boston, Bank of America Pavilion
Aug. 23 -- Holmdel, N.J., PNC Bank Arts Center
Aug. 26 -- Washington D.C., Verizon Center
Aug. 29 – Miami, AmericanAirlines Arena
