Beyonce and Jay Z announce new Rose Bowl date, catch some basketball
Surely the timing here is no coincidence?
A day after TMZ ignited the Internet by posting what it said was a video depicting Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles attacking Jay Z in an elevator -- all while Beyoncé more or less stands aside -- music’s top power couple announced Tuesday that they’ve added dates to their joint summer tour.
The On the Run Tour, as it’s being called (after a duet between the two on Jay Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” album), was already set to stop at the Rose Bowl on Aug. 2; now Beyoncé and Jay Z will play the Pasadena stadium on Aug. 3 as well. Tickets for the second concert go on sale to the general public Friday.
The North American trek is scheduled to launch June 25 in Miami and wrap Aug. 6 in San Francisco; sources recently told The Times that the show may then travel to Europe.
So far the performers haven’t commented publicly about the apparent elevator incident. (Must they? Pop & Hiss isn’t so sure.) But Monday night Beyoncé and Jay Z were photographed sitting together at an NBA playoff game in New York.
The intrigue -- it deepens.
