Lil Wayne tweets amid conflicting reports on his condition

As conflicting reports on Lil Wayne’s health continue to burn up the blogosphere, the rapper ostensibly took to Twitter on Friday evening to thank his fans and attempt to debunk any thoughts that his condition is grave.

“I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love,” the tweet read.

But the quick line only fueled further speculation -- and confusion.

Responding to reports from TMZ that the rapper was in a medically induced coma, Mack Maine, president of Wayne’s Young Money imprint, had tweeted that the superstar was “alive and well” and bashed TMZ for its reports -- which at one point said he was receiving last rites (an update that was later removed without explanation). “Dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe ... that’s false!!” Maine assured fans, and said he and Wayne were watching the Syracuse game.

Maine also directed a handful of harsh tweets at the site, including one that read, “and definitely don’t try to kill a man before his time,” but these were removed as well.

TMZ also reported that Lil Wayne’s mother was on a plane to L.A. and that decisions about his health would not be made until she arrived.

As Twitter exploded with speculation, a tech-savvy user issued a tweet questioning whether Wayne’s statement originated from Cedars-Sinai by tracking the latitude/longitude information that’s encrypted into a user’s Twitter account.

So while we don’t know the exact condition of the rapper -- one source close to the rapper’s camp told the Los Angeles Times that Lil Wayne was “recovering” while a representative from his Young Money/Cash Money label would only point to the tweet -- we will continue to update with more information as it becomes available.
