Michael Jackson’s son Prince to be ‘ET’ special correspondent

It’s always something of a surprise when a member of a prominent clan decides not to go into the family business. Imagine, for instance, if Eli Manning had decided to become an abstract expressionist painter? Or George W. Bush had become a mixed martial arts instructor?

OK, you can stop imagining. Because Prince Jackson, the 16-year-old son of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has taken a gig as a special correspondent for “ET.” The CBS show made the announcement Monday as the Twitterati gasped in astonishment.

Not too many details yet on what sort of reportorial sleuthing Prince will be undertaking. But apparently among the first interview subjects he’ll be grilling will be James Franco and Sam Raimi.

“I’m looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor,” the up-and-coming member of the royal family declared recently. But not a pop star as well? Oh well, music’s loss is journalism’s gain -- and someday film and TV’s, too.
