Singer Sinead O’Connor has been found safe after being reported missing outside of Chicago, police in Wilmette, Ill., said Monday.

“O’Connor has been located. She is safe and is no longer listed as a missing/endangered person,” police said in a statement.

Authorities did not say where she was found. Wilmette is about 20 miles north of Chicago along Lake Michigan. She was reported missing to local authorities after she was last seen riding a Raleigh motorized bicycle at 6 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, O’Connor has been living in Wilmette since late February. She performed with the David Bowie cover band Sons of the Silent Age at a Bowie tribute concert in the area on March 4, singing “Sorrow” and “Life on Mars.”

Last fall, the Irish singer and songwriter posted a note on her Facebook account saying she had taken an overdose of sleeping pills, writing that she was distressed about “a horrific set of betrayals” by some members of her family.

“There is only so much any woman can be expected to bear,” she wrote in November. “There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name. If I wasn’t posting this, my kids and family wouldn’t even find out.

“Was dead for another fortnight since none of them bother .... with me for a minute,” she wrote. “I could have been dead here for weeks already and they’d never have known.”
