Television and Primus added to lineup for Desert Daze fest
October’s Desert Daze festival already had an exceptionally strong lineup for 1970s experimental punk and outsider rock music – Suicide, the Sonics and the Black Angels among them. A second wave of lineup additions just made it even better.
The pioneering New York City rock act Television, freaky alt-funk staples Primus and vibey synth-experimentalists Washed Out are among a bevy of acts joining the fest at the appropriately psychedelic Institute of Mentalphysics in Joshua Tree.
The avant-garde dance troupe WIFE, which recently put on a splendidly creepy afternoon performance at the Hammer Museum with locals Hecuba, will perform as well.
Co-headliners Suicide haven’t played in SoCal in 16 years, so the event was already a historic addition to the 2016 festival season.
But now it’s all the more essential – and that’s before you even get to the Andrew W.K. keynote lecture.
