Miranda Lambert won the first award of the night, single of the year, for her song “Automatic” at the 48th Country Music Assn. Awards. Kacey Musgraves, Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally followed with a win for song of the year for “Follow Your Arrow.”

Lambert led the nominations for the 2014 CMA Awards with nine, matching a record she set in 2010 for female with the most nominations in CMA history. She took home the award for female vocalist of the year, while her husband, Blake Shelton, won male vocalist of the year.

Other top nominees going into the night were Dierks Bentley, who received five nominations, and Eric Church and Keith Urban, who tied with four apiece. CMA darling Taylor Swift, whose recently released album “1989” racked up sales of 1.287 million copies during its first week, was nominated for just one award, female vocalist of the year.
