Britney Spears set to perform at the Billboard Awards
The pop star who famously blew minds with her snake-equipped rendition of “I’m a Slave 4 U” on the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards will perform on this month’s Billboard Music Awards, the show announced Monday.
Scheduled for May 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the production will feature Spears in a medley of some of her best known hits, which include “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!... I Did It Again,” “Toxic” and “Piece of Me.”
The singer is also to receive the Millennium Award, which “recognizes outstanding career achievements and influence in the music industry,” according to a statement. It’s been given out only twice — to Beyoncé in 2011 and Whitney Houston in 2012.
Spears’ most recent album, “Britney Jean,” came out in 2013, and later that year she launched a successful residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Last year, Spears teamed with Iggy Azalea for a single, “Pretty Girls.”
Other performers set to appear on the Billboard Music Awards, which will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara, include Justin Bieber, DNCE, Shawn Mendes and Pink.
