Barbra Streisand announces new album and her first U.S. tour in nearly four years
Having scored a No. 1 album in 2014 with her “Partners” album of duets, making her the only recording artist with six No. 1 albums in as many decades, Barbra Streisand has announced an encore: She will release “Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway,” pairing her with film actors and singers, scheduled for release before the end of the year.
The veteran singer also announced she will embark on her first North American tour in nearly four years with a slate of 10 concerts in nine cities beginning Aug. 2 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The run of shows includes two nights in her hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y., before concluding Aug. 23 in Toronto.
The new album will be bundled with concert tickets, so that those who attend her performances also will receive a copy of the new recording, details of which have not been announced. A release date has not been specified, only that the album will arrive after the tour concludes.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” actress Daisy Ridley posted on her Instagram account earlier this year that she had recently recorded a duet with Streisand, but none of Streisand’s duet partners on the album has been confirmed.
Her 2012-13 tour was her first full-fledged U.S. tour since 1994. Tickets for the new tour dates are set to go on sale May 25. More information is available at Streisand’s official website.
