Sandra Bullock could pull in more than $70 million for ‘Gravity’

Sandra Bullock is poised to take home an astronomical paycheck for her work on the space epic “Gravity,” one that could top $70 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Bullock’s deal with Warner Bros. calls for her to make $20 million upfront, says THR, along with 15% of the studio’s share of theatrical revenue and a cut from home video, TV and ancillary sources.

So far “Gravity” has earned more than $700 million at the worldwide box office, and it’s expected to surpass the $750-million mark. Once all the numbers are crunched, Bullock should be set to take home at least an additional $50 million.

These days it’s unusual even for a star of Bullock’s caliber to get such a lucrative deal, although in this case the deal was struck back in 2010 at a fortuitous moment for Bullock, who was riding high on the success of her Oscar win for “The Blind Side.” Angelina Jolie had also just dropped out of “Gravity,” so the studio needed to find an A-list replacement quickly.

News of Bullock’s mega-payday comes a month after Jonah Hill revealed that he gladly accepted the SAG minimum of $60,000 to work with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio on “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

“I would sell my house and give [Scorsese] all my money to work for him,” Hill said.

“Gravity,” granted, has grossed more than double “Wolf” at the worldwide box office ($703 million to $338 million), and Bullock is the star of her film, compared to Hill’s supporting role. Even so, it seems worth pointing out that she’ll make approximately 1,167 times more than Hill, a fellow Oscar nominee this year.
