Hollywood’s biggest night demands an appropriately ritzy after-party, and it comes in the form of the Governors Ball, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ official post-Oscar fete.

Held at a ballroom atop the Hollywood & Highland complex and attended by nominees, presenters and performers, the event provides a swanky setting for winners to celebrate, losers to drown their sorrows and everyone else to rub elbows.

The Times recently got a peek at this year’s festivities, which you can watch in the video above.

As event producer Cheryl Cecchetto says in the video, the ball will honor not only Hollywood’s present but also its past. “What really sets it apart from any other event is the history, the archives,” she says, referring to the memorabilia on display. “One photo alone says so much.”

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck reiterated the sentiment.

“We make a little bit from the past and a little bit of the future,” he said of his menu. The old-school dishes includes chicken pot pie, a perennial favorite, while the more modern offerings include a sorbet made with raspberries, Champagne and liquid nitrogen.

Puck and his team will also create thousands of miniature chocolate Oscar statuettes. “Everybody gets an Oscar from us,” he said.
