Golden Globes: Jennifer Lawrence wins actress in a musical or comedy motion picture for ‘Joy’
Jennifer Lawrence won the Golden Globe for lead actress in a motion picture musical or comedy for her role in “Joy” as a divorced mother of two who turns her life around when she creates the Miracle Mop.
The win Sunday night marks her third Golden Globe honor. She previously won in this category three years ago for “Silver Linings Playbook” and in the supporting actress category two years ago for “American Hustle.” All three films were directed by David O. Russell.

“Every time I’m up here because of you,” she told Russell. “Thank you for teaching me so much professionally and personally. David, I love you. I want to be buried next to you!”
Lawrence, who won the Oscar for lead actress in 2013 for “Silver Linings Playbook,” had strong competition in this category, vying with Melissa McCarthy for “Spy,” Amy Schumer for “Trainwreck,” Maggie Smith for “The Lady in the Van” and Lily Tomlin for “Grandma.”
